Good neighbourhoods may mitigate effects of life stress

neighbourhoodNew research from APEAL lab suggests that neighbourhood social cohesion (i.e., sense of trust and shared responsibility within the neighbourhood) may protect adolescents from some of the known negative consequences of experiencing stressful events in childhood. The paper, authored by APEAL members Mila Kingsbury, Zahra Clayborne, and Ian Colman, in conjunction with UK researcher James Kirkbride, was recently published inĀ Psychological Medicine. Congratulations to all involved!
